Welcome to BijKirsten, a dedicated practice for remedial teaching and tutoring.
Children face various challenges, from task approach and work attitude to cognitive development. At times, they benefit from extra guidance to boost self-confidence and motivation or receive support in specific areas. In my practice, children receive individualized guidance in a quiet and pleasant environment. I specialize in assisting with task approach, work attitude, and subjects such as technical reading, reading comprehension, spelling, vocabulary and math. Additionally, I offer language lessons for newcomers to the Netherlands.
About me.
I'm Kirsten van Luijk, a graduate of the PABO (Pedagogical Academy of Primary Education) in 2010. With over 12 years of experience in regular and special elementary education,
I completed the Master Educational Needs, specializing in learning and behavioral problems in elementary education.
I believe that every child can make significant developments with the right attention and guidance tailored to their needs. Each child is unique and learns in their own way. In my practice, I provide personal attention and enthusiasm to positively stimulate their growth.
Remedial Teaching / Tutoring
During the introductory meeting, we discuss the areas where your child needs extra support, whether in cognitive development or learning strategies. If you decide to proceed, I create a personalized action plan outlining the goals we'll work on over 12 weeks. An evaluation follows, determining whether to continue the treatment or if the goals have been achieved.
Guidance for the Child
Sessions begin with a casual discussion over a drink and snack, reviewing homework assignments. We then dive into structured activities tailored to each child's needs. I use active learning methods and exercises in 30-minute blocks, ensuring focused and effective sessions.
Homework support
I offer homework help for children aiming to improve their learning-to-learn skills. We explore various methods, such as flashcards, mind maps, and mnemonics, to find the most suitable approach for your child. Individualized homework assistance aims to help your child progress and independently plan and execute school tasks.
Dutch lessons - If Dutch is not your native language
I teach Dutch language lessons to children who have not yet fully mastered the Dutch language. For these children it is often difficult to understand the teacher and classmates well. By increasing their vocabulary, it becomes increasingly easier for your child to connect at school and in the social environment. The lessons are adapted to your child's specific needs.
Rates 2024
The intake interview is free of charge. Classes are priced at 29.95 euros per 30 minutes. Covering materials, preparation time and the 12-week evaluation interviews are included. Tuition is exempt from VAT.
